Auto Expense is designed to keep a fuel log and service log for a single vehicle. Keep track of your total fuel expense, service costs. Miles per gallon computed for each fuel entry. Store notes on your service visits.
Have your vehicle and insurance information handy in case you are in an accident.
Create Date Book or To Do List entries for your next scheduled maintenance.
Export your fuel and/or service log to the Memo Pad. Purge fuel and/or service entries.

Installing: Hotsync the AExp Installer.prc file to your PDA. You will see an icon called InstAExp in the PDABruce category. Select this icon to install and launch Auto Expense. Several files will be extracted from the archive and the archive will delete itself. Auto Expense will automatically run once the installer has completed. When you start Auto Expense for the first time a Copyright screen appears. Once you register (purchase) the product this screen will no longer show. To see how many days remain for your 14-day trial period select Trial Info from the Help menu of the Add/Edit screen. After the 14-day trial you will no longer be able to use the program. If you purchase before (or after) the 14-days expire you will be able to just hotsync the registered version over the evaluation copy and all of your data will be saved. |  Trial Info

The first screen that appears (registered version) is the Main Menu screen. From here you make your selection of the funtion you wish to perform. | Main Menu

The Fuel Entry screen is for input of your fuel purchases. Tap the New button and fill out the screen. The Date field defaults to the current date. Tapping in the date field will allow you to select a date from the Palm calendar. For the ODO (Now) field, enter your current odometer reading. You can tap the E button to pop up a numeric editor. This will not work on your first entry into the database but will work from then on. For the ODO (Prev) field, enter your previous odometer reading. This will only have to be done on your first entry. After you create your first fuel entry this field will be filled in for you as you add new fuel entries, but you can change it. You can tap the E button to pop up a numeric editor. For the Gallons field, enter the number of gallons of fuel purchased. You can tap the E button to pop up a numeric editor. For the Cost field, enter how much you paid for the fuel purchased. You can tap the E button to pop up a numeric editor. Now tap the Calc button and the Miles, Cost/Gal and MPG (miles per gallon) will be calculated. Use: - |< - to view the first record

From the Options menu of this screen you can select to purge the database of all entries over 30 days old, purge all entries over 60 days old or delete the entire database. This would be useful for tracking a new vehicle. You can export all fuel entries to the Memo Pad application in comma-delimited format. Once you hotsync your handheld the comma-delimited data will be available in your Palm Desktop to copy and save for use with Excel or anything else you choose. | Fuel Entry

The Fuel Log screen will display all the fuel entries you have entered. Note: Fuel entries are sorted into this list when created. If you change one it is possible that it will no longer be in sorted order. If that happens, either delete the entry and add it again or re-sort the database. Selecting one of the fuel entries in the list will bring up the details for that entry. Your total miles, total spent for fuel, total gallons purchased and average miles per gallon based on all entries also displays. To change the alternating row color select Set Row Color from the Options menu of this screen. The color choice you select will remain until you change it again or reinstall Auto Expense. The Service Entry screen is for input of your service maintenance records. Note: You must enter service items to select from the drop down list before adding new service records. (see below) Tap the New button and fill out the screen. The Date field defaults to the current date. Tapping in the date field will allow you to select a date from the Palm calendar. Tap the Service drop down list to select what service was performed. Tap the E button to bring up the service category editor. For the ODO field, enter your current odometer reading. Tap the E button to bring up a numeric editor. For the Cost field, enter how much you paid for the work performed. Tap the E button to bring up a numeric editor. For the Method field, enter how you paid for the work performed. (cash, credit card, etc.) For the Notes field, enter any notes you wish to retain for this service. Tap the More button to enter more notes. Use: - |< - to view the first record

The Service Descriptions screen allows you to add/edit service descriptions. Use: - New - to add a new service item
- Edit - to change a service item
- Del - to delete a service item
- Sort - will sort the service items in ascending order, tapping the sort a second time will sort the service items in descending order
- Up/Down - to move a service item up or down in the list
- Done - to return to the Service Entry screen

The Vehicle Info screen allows you to enter information about your vehicle. Enter the make, model, year, license plate number, VIN (vehicle identification number), your insurance carrier name and phone number and policy number. This information would be handy if you had an accident. Use: - Main - to return to the Main Menu

The Schedule screen allows you to enter an event into your Date Book or To Do List appliction for future service maintenance. Enter a Description for the scheduled maintenance. Select the Date for the scheduled maintenance from the standard date pop-up. Select the Time for the scheduled maintenance from the standard time pop-up. (required if setting an alarm) Enter any Notes about the scheduled maintenance. Use: - Add to Date Book - to send this event to the Date Book
- Add to Date Book w/Alarm - to send this event to the Date Book and have an alarm sound 1 day prior to the event
- Add to To Do List - to send this event to the To Do List
- Main - to return to the Main Menu
